Phenom Penh
University Safe House

In 2005 one of the youth from Heartland Community Church in Kampong Cham moved to Phnom Penh to attend university. Like many Christian youth from the country he found accommodation with a local church. But to his surprise not all of the youth who took advantage of the church's hospitality were Christians. Trouble arose in the house with several young men regularly spending the night with girls and abusing alcohol.
In response to this situation, Heartland has launched a Safe House in Phnom Penh, where Christian youth from the country can live and study in a supervised Christian environment.
The Phnom Penh University Safe House *P.U.S.H.* is now up and running with six Christian lads from Kampong Cham calling it home.
The Pastors and staff from Kampong Cham will take turns visiting each week and hold homecells.
Future plans include English Classes, accommodation for Cambodian Impact Teams and eventually the launch of a Heartland Community Church from this base. |
